Is There A Model For Low Carbon Growth?

The 2009 World Forum on Enterprise and the Environment will address the question, "Is there a model for low carbon growth?". With recent events leading to worldwide economic slowdown there is an urgent need to develop a new sustainable growth paradigm with environmental stability at the core. Leading global figures from the policy, business and academic communities will convene to illustrate on-the-ground observations through case studies, share research findings and ultimately to debate whether there is a suitable model and if so, how such a model can be built and implemented.

The Forum is specifically designed to be a three day, closed-doors event in order to encourage the carefully selected delegates to fully engage in the evolving discussion. It will be held from Sunday 5th July to Tuesday 7th July at Keble College, University of Oxford, where speakers and participants will also have accommodation and meals provided within the beautiful college grounds.

During the three day period, delegates will have the opportunity to explore whether there is a model for low carbon growth through a combination of plenary events and a series of worksessions, structured around three themes: Bringing About Change; Economic Activities Reducing Emissions; and Infrastructure. Each plenary session will introduce the context for the ensuing worksession and the discussion of the worksession will be reported back to the plenary, thereby providing a basis and input for subsequent discussions. The concluding session of the World Forum will be a summary of findings and thoughts on the next steps.

In summary, the World Forum is an opportunity for policy, business and academic thought leaders to challenge each other and ultimately work together in forging a model for low carbon growth. The outcome of the event will be a vital and significant contribution to ensuring a sustainable global economy.
